Long story short, our web host, DreamHost, royally screwed us.
For a week we were down pending an “upgrade” that took way too long. A proffesional company should be able to do this with virtually zero down time, at most a few hours.
Well, not only did the upgrade knock us out for a week while they copied stuff over, but, as it turns out, they lost our entire database for our forums in the process. Every post, shout, PM… Gone. 6 years worth of data gone in a flash.
Luckily…. your friendly neighborhood sys admin (aka me) just so happened to make a backup of our database 3 days before we went down. I’ve restored us from this backup, and we should be okay. Though anything posted in the last couple weeks will be missing.

So our host is doing some “upgrades” to our environment, which is causing an extended outage. No word yet when it’ll be back up.
Another month rolls by and that means another round of promotions! We have tons of new members and new recruits from the past month so lets get on with it.
